Let’s be clear about something.
But Lord do I want to be.
I try so hard. But running for me is a really difficult task.
I mean, if I have to be honest, it’s just downright awful.
But I stil do it. (Sometimes).
I have found that if I get really good and distracted from the physical pain right away, and find some music that really gets me pumped, then it helps.
I’ve had this Running Playlist for about two years and it’s been my go-to anytime I really needed to keep my head in the game.
Sure, there are other tunes that get me fired up during a workout, but I have found that these songs, in this order, help me personally when I’m trying to run about 3-5ish miles.
Without further ado, I present to you, my 5k Playlist:
Natasha’s Running 5k Playlist, playas..
The science behind some of my choices:
- Pursuit of Happiness; this is the extended remix, and I feel like because the duration of the song is a bit longer, it totally screws with your mind and gets you geared up. If you can stick with the entire first song, you might as well keep going, right?
- Nookie; this is usually the part during a run where I’m feeling downright mad. Like, why would I even think this was a good idea? For some reason, Nookie helps me express this.
- Blurred Lines; I actually hate this song and what it implies, but this remix has an amazing beat that really helps me keep tempo while running.
- Depending on the length of my run, a lot of times I have to skip through the next few songs and go straight to All I Do Is Win, because I think that explains everything. Who wouldn’t want that kind of celebration and boost of confidence as you see your finish line in sight?
Apple also has great playlists you can browse through and add to your library, and I have found that I also really enjoy Work Out Like Beyonce (that was actually my choice this morning for my run/walk/jog/fight the gnats while the boys practiced baseball).
I’m always in need of more great workout tunes, so please comment below and let me know what gets you going during your sessions! Weights, cardio, doesn’t matter!
