Well guys, I’m going to be honest with you. I actually thought for awhile that we would get through May and I wouldn’t have a book blurb to share. I’ve been reading the same book for about a month and a half now and just haven’t been able to finish it, until I FINALLY did this last week. Then I was able to move on to my BOTM pick and I just finished it on Monday so here we are!
My actual BOTM pick from my subscription is still sitting on my dresser, because I chose to read my friend’s pick from last month that she loaned to me; Beyond the Point by Claire Gibson.
Beyond the Point is not typically a book I would ever choose – just putting that out there right up front. But Laura swore to me that it was amazing and that I needed to read it, so read it I did.
She was right; it was pretty dang good. But it was also a great reminder why I stick to my thrillers – it’s tough to explain to your seven year old why you’re bawling uncontrollably as you flip through the pages of your emotional book.
Beyond the Point follows the lives and stories of three friends, Avery, Dani, and Hannah, who meet their freshmen year at West Point. It takes you on a journey through friendship, navigating relationships, and post 9/11 as they’re faced with the unimaginable: going to war.
Beautifully written, Beyond the Point grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go even after you’ve read the very last page and closed the book. If you’re looking to step outside your thriller-loving-box, this is definitely one that you should try.
Here are some other non-thriller books that have made my approved list!
