If you follow me on social media, you may have seen that I was able to take part in the first ever SHE Event this week, where I shared the virtual stage with some of the top #bossbabes in their industries. This women-only event was created to spark creativity and empowerment through following your passion and providing our audience with the latest tips and tricks in our respective fields.
My topic was fall fashion, and I shared four of my favorite trends along with different styling ideas for how anyone can pull off these looks with confidence this fall!
If you weren’t able to attend SHE, never fear. I’ve rounded up some of my photos and main takeaways so that you can ease into fall, #PSL in hand, and rocking your new favorite outfit. I’ll be sharing one tip each week for the next four weeks, so set those alarms and let’s get ready to get trendy!
Style Roundup | Fall Trends
You’ve probably seen overalls filling your Pinterest and Instagram feeds since the beginning of summer, and I, for one, am SO excited that this trend is continuing right into the fall!
If you’re like me, I was slightly nervous in the beginning to throw on my first pair, because let’s face it, I haven’t worn overalls since I was teeny tiny.
However, overalls have come a LONG way since the 80’s. Light wash, dark wash, skinny, boyfriend cut, distressed, shorts, or pants. ALL are amazing and you can virtually style all of them the same way.
Side note – my grandpa ROCKED denim overalls in pretty much every memory I have of him. His go-to look would be denim OAs over a plaid button down and one of his baseball caps. I like to think sometimes that I got not only my killer dance moves, but also my fashion sense from him.
There are literally SO many ways you can style a good pair of denim overalls, but I had to limit myself to three. Without further ado…

I’ll be honest; when I was first putting together this look I wanted to style it with a pair of cheetah print heels. This posed a problem because I quickly discovered I do not own cheetah print heels. So this means that either a) I have too many pairs of shoes that I can’t remember what I do or don’t own, or b) I need to buy a pair ASAP. (I’m favoring option b).
Regardless, here is the overall aesthetic:
- Dress up your overalls by adding a blazer over top
- The shirt underneath can be a basic button down white shirt with a collar for a more sophisticated and polished look, or you can throw on any shirt with a pattern (I originally went for stripes to match to pattern-mix with my non-existent cheetah heels); much to my dismay, I couldn’t have that as my end result
- Statement shoes! This can be ANYTHING! Hence, my wild yellow feather heels. But again, this look would be amazing with a pair of cheetah print, or even red! Not into heels? They make so many amazing flats these days that would look just as good and still give it that dressier edge
- Statement jewelry or a cute clutch
If you’re not into the idea of making such a bold statement, and prefer a more subtle approach, see the picture below for a second option that still achieves the same vibe:

No one says that just because you’re wearing overalls, that they have to go OVER your shirt. In fact, my pair of overalls happens to be one of my favorite pairs of skinny jeans!
Throwing a sweater over top of your overalls works best if your sweater is bigger/baggier. Otherwise if it’s more form-fitting, you’re going to see the exact outline of your straps and bib coming right through (a little is fine, but if it’s too tight it may just end up looking silly and kill the overall outfit).

You can even opt for a sweater that fits a little off the shoulder, and let your strap peek through (which I think is super cute). I opted for a sweater that has a cut-out detail over the shoulder to highlight this.
Throw it on with your favorite pair of ankle booties and you’re ready for the pumpkin patch, running errands, or anything else that awaits you!
I’m calling this look the Blogger Vibe because the minute my husband saw me he said, “you officially look like a blogger.” I’m taking that as a compliment.

What I did:
- Grabbed an old white tee from my closet
- Covered with a long open cardi
- Mules (SO COMFY and SO IN this year)
- My favorite hat to cover a bad hair day (this is what happens when you’re taking photos in sweaters and it’s 90 degrees outside)
Why I love this look?
It’s simple, took literally 3 minutes to throw together, and the outcome is a super easy, super cozy, trendy outfit that looks like it took you awhile to to get ready when in reality, you threw it on and ran out the door. I’m all about that fast, simple style. Because #Momlife.
So see? Overalls don’t have to be scary! They can actually be super cute, AND super flattering. I’d love to know your favorite ways of styling yours! And don’t forget to tune in next week! I’ll be sharing more of my favorite style trends for fall!
