Can someone please kindly explain to me why I went all summer and only had like.. one blended smoothie? But now that there is literal snow on the ground, I’m going through a phase where all I want is a FROZEN-ALMOST-ICE-CREAM-LIKE-DRINK?! It makes zero sense to me. I’m sitting here shivering even as I type this.
Whatever. I may have it backwards. That’s fine. You can choose to wait out on the goodness I’m about to share until it gets warm again, but believe me.. your life will never be the same after trying the magical combo I’m about to enlighten you with.
Anyway. Protein + carbs after a workout are essential for both repairing muscle and refueling energy stores, right? After every lift session, I make sure to have a protein + carb mix (along with BCAAs) to help get the most out of my recovery. Here are my daily go-to (I usually alternate depending on the day) high protein post workout snacks.

Cliff Builders Protein Bars
FREAKING LOVE THESE. Now, keep in mind, I can’t have gluten or dairy. So optimally, if you’re able to have whey post workout, whether it be in protein powder or protein bar form, you should consider doing so. However, if dairy is off the table for you like it is for me, then you HAVE TO TRY THESE. They’re solid bars, which there’s nothing I hate more than when you get a rinky dinky tiny protein bar, and the flavors are AMAZING. Truth be told, I’m not wild about the chocolate peanut butter, and I have yet to try the mint chocolate or the cookies and cream, BUT.. the crunchy peanut butter, almond vanilla, and cinnamon swirl are out of this freaking world. Do yourself a favor and order this variety pack from Amazon. You seriously won’t regret it, and if you do, let me know and I’ll eat the rest.

I throw one of these in my gym bag, mix up my BCAAs, and have after a lift session each and every time. Unless, of course, I’m opting for this next favorite..
